April 29 (Monday)
at 9:00 am

Class length
50 minutes

Venue
Mt Martha House Community Centre

The only Sun Style class on the timetable, this session focussing on balance and continuous movement while maintaining a relaxed, upright posture.  Sun Style is one of the youngest forms of tai chi, with many postures and Wu style. In these classes, students learn Sun Style Short Forms. This class is suited to those with little or no tai chi experience. Included in all classes is a warm-up, and standing meditation, followed by a selection of Qigong and Shibashi exercises.  Foundations of movement and flow are practiced, focussing on maintaining balance and posture. Drills such as Silk Reeling and Zhan Zhuang, weight transference practice, advance and retreat stepping, and coordination exercises are always included so students are constantly building, layer upon layer, a solid base for their tai chi practice.  As tai chi is an internal form of Kung Fu, the martial applications are discussed and explored, at a level suitable to the class.
This class will also include instruction in Wudang Bamboo Form and Tai Chi for Mental Health and Cognitive Function
