Program Overview

This intensive is designed as a progressive pathway:

  • Friday Half Day: Partner work – sensitivity and application
  • Saturday: Internal cultivation → external expression
  • Sunday: Core mechanics → integrated form

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of Tai Chi principles across health, movement, and martial contexts, with clear connections between styles and practices.

Friday 16th October (morning only) – Push Hands

A focused introductory session exploring the foundations of Push Hands.

  • Warm-ups
  • Developing sensitivity and ‘listening’ skills
  • Understanding connection and responsiveness
  • Exploring Peng, Lü, Ji, An (Grasp Bird’s Tail as just one example)
  • Exploring Yin/Yang energy dynamics
  • Introduction to basic partner patterns and principles

This shorter session is ideal for those wanting a deeper exploration of Tai Chi applications, using partner work to develop an understanding of the energies within the form.

Saturday 17th October – From Internal Cultivation to External Expression 

9:30 – 1200: Ba Duan Jin

  • Tai Chi Cleansing - Healthy Qigong
  • Internal energy focus

  • Chinese medicine/pressure point focus with movement

A session designed to ground and prepare the body, establishing internal awareness and energy flow.

1:00 – 4:30 24 Movements Yang Style

  • Warm-ups
  • Tai Chi Walking
  • Yin/Yang philosophy 
  • Transition refinement (applying the three connections)
  • Martial applications overview
  • Cool down

Moving from internal awareness into expressed movement, linking form, function, and meaning.

Sunday 18th October – From Core Mechanics to Integrated Form

9:30 – 12:00: Chen Fundamentals (Chen 18 Short Form)

  • Warm-ups
  • Silk Reeling: developing spiral energy from the dantian
  • Yin/Yang circles: understanding balance, continuity, and transformation
  • Lower body & footwork: building stability, rooting, and coordinated stepping
  • Principles into practice: Chen 18
  • Cool down

This session builds progressively from internal principles into embodied movement, forming the foundation of Chen-style practice.

1:00 - 4:30: 42 Competition Form – Applying Principles

  • Warm-ups
  • Integrating silk reeling within the form
  • Exploring how energy shifts through transitions
  • Lower body technique and footwork
  • Refining flow, coordination, and intent
  • Cool down
  • Q & A

Bringing the weekend together by applying core principles within a structured form.

Cancellations & Refunds

  • 100% refund for cancellations made 28 days or more prior to the event start date.
  • 75% refund for cancellations made 14–27 days prior to the event start date.
  • 50% refund for cancellations made 7–13 days prior to the event start date.
  • No refund for cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the event start date or for non-attendance (no-shows).

Transfers

How to Cancel

All cancellations must be submitted by email to [email protected] . The cancellation date will be determined by the time the email is received.

Event Changes

In the unlikely event of cancellation or rescheduling by the organisers, participants will be fully refunded.
