Jenny Harrison

Sifu Jenny is an award winning instructor and teacher.   She has studied under Master Jesse Tsao, Master Deming Liu, Master Su Legato and Professor Yang Yu Bing.   Her School, Rising Moon Tai Chi, was opened in 2015.

Jenny Harrison

Sifu Jenny has been recognised for her outstanding work, with the honour of being National Accredited Exercise Professional and the Victorian Group Exercise Professional of the year.

Jenny’s interest in Tai Chi began almost 30 years ago when she was studying Goju Ryu karate with Tino Ceberano Martial Arts Academy.  After watching a demonstration of Tai Chi and the martial application of the postures, Jenny developed an interest in the concept of strength through softness, and soon the physical and cognitive benefits of slow, flowing movements became apparent.

Over the years, and under the guidance of Masters Ming Shao, Jesse Tsao, Deming Liu, Su Legato and Wing Cheung, Jenny has become an accredited instructor in a number of bare hand and weapon forms, as well as Qigong and Shibashi sets.

Jenny is an approved Tai Chi (sword) instructor with WTQA and she has completed the Tai Chi for Mental Health and Cognitive Improvement course through Exercise Medicine Australia, as well as their Tai Chi for Health and Falls Prevention course.  Jenny is the first accredited instructor for Wudang Bamboo Form, developed in 2011 by Master Su Rule.  In 2016 Jenny hosted Master Jesse Tsao for his first trip to Australia.  During this time he awarded her accreditation for Tai Chi Bang (Advanced) Instructor, and in 2021 she earned the title of Standard Instructor (Grade A) with him.   In 2019, Jenny spent some time in China at the Beijing Sports University studying under Professor Yang Yu Bing.

Jenny is a member of Wushu, Tai Chi, Qigong Australia association and she has competed in a number of WTQA competitions, winning gold medals in Beijing 24 and 32 Sword forms and bronze in Eight Immortal Flute (Tai Chi Bang).  Her school is registered for weapons exemption with WTQA , allowing Rising Moon Tai Chi School to issue sword permits for its students.

Jenny opened Rising Moon Tai Chi School, which is based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, in 2015.  The School offers classes in Qigong, Shibashi, Sun and Yang style tai chi, including Beijing 24, Long Form and Tai Chi for Mental Health and Cognitive Improvement.  It also offers a mentoring program for instructors who would like to develop their teaching skills.

Su Legato began her tai chi journey in the 1980s with Dr Li Wong, continuing with Master Tsui-Po through the 1990s, where she gained national and international recognition competing in World Wushu Championships.  She has recently been honoured with the title of Wudang Australia.

Su Legato

Su Legato began her tai chi journey in the 1980s with Dr Li Wong, continuing with Master Tsui-Po through the 1990s, where she gained national and international recognition competing in World Wushu Championships.  During this time, Master Su ‘found’ the Wudang style, a style based on Taoist philosophy and virtually unknown outside of China.

Practising alone for two  years, then competing in Hong Kong, Master Yun Xiang Tseng encouraged her to train with his brothers in Wudang.  After years of disciplined training and practice, she has recently been honoured with the title of Wudang San Feng Australia.  Su  believes the Wudang style offers a gift in its ability to seemingly stop time as we gather energy and create stillness, in mind, body and spirit.
