Workshop in Balance and Confidence

Taught by Jenny Harrison
April 8, 2026 - April 10, 2026

This April, during the 2-day school holiday program, we’ll explore how practising Qigong and Tai Chi supports and develops balance, steady gait, coordination and proprioception.

The April workshops will focus on Dao Yin Yangshen Gong Shi Er Fa, a gentle sequence of twelve movements especially beneficial for developing confidence, stability, and balance. We will also explore Tai Chi for Falls Prevention, with a sequence designed to improve body awareness, posture, and safe movement. Short forms are particularly effective because they are easy to remember and practical to practise regularly.

Through relaxed, mindful practice, participants will learn how Tai Chi and Qigong help strengthen the body, calm the mind, and support safe, confident movement in everyday life.

This promises to be an enjoyable and supportive morning of learning, where participants can deepen their understanding of Tai Chi and Qigong while developing practical skills to enhance balance and wellbeing.

The Dao Yin Yangshen Gong Shi Er Fa is a relatively new Qigong set created by the Chinese Health Qigong Association. This set of 12 exercises is designed to enhance health and longevity by combining breathing techniques, physical movements, and mental focus.

Tai Chi for Falls Prevention, a short form developed by Exercise Medicine Australia, who also created Tai Chi for Mental Health and Cognitive Function.  As well as learning the sequence, we’ll be exploring different ways we can improve our balance, coordination and proprioception.

This series has already finished. Please check our schedule for more classes.
